When I have a daughter one day, I'd like to think that she would join this great lil' group of ladies... and hey, I'll be the troop leader! Welllll, maybe. :)

Mmm... what was I thinking?
This isn't exactly what I need to have in the house right now,
but I couldn't resist the two little girls who knocked on my door a few weeks ago. They were all decked out in their Brownie outfits, looking SO adorable. Not only are Thin Mints my favorite, I, too, was a Brownie and a Girl Scout. My sister and I were terrible cookie salesmen, haha. My mom would take our order sheets to her office and sell a few... then we'd hit the family and close friends. All of that to barely have any at all. I laugh now thinking back to how much my parents must have dreaded that every year!

Anna
I spent this past weekend down in Brunswick/St.Simons with the only person I'm more crazy about than my husband - my twin sista! Truth be told, we didn't do much, but oh how I loved just being in her presence. If only we lived closer to one another... (sigh). Our time together is never long enough! Anyhoo, the weather was good. I had sunny skies going down, and Saturday was ridiculously nice. We slept in, had a perfectly laid back lunch at Bubba Garcias, rode around the island, watched a few movies... was nice to be lazy! And of course, yesterday I had to drive back through some depressing rain. Besides the downpour, the only other exciting thing about my drive was a Cheez-It box flying towards my car in what felt like slow motion, hitting my windshield - how random is that?!!! haha! I'm still laughing about that one.I made it back in plenty of time for the Oscars, which were surprisingly a bit boring to me. I was so excited about Ellen hosting, but I was disappointed - thought she'd do it up more. It didn't hold my interest enough to watch past 11pm.
So, I spent this entire Monday wishing I were back down south... watching Anna paint and listening to her laugh. I wonder if she's as homesick for me as I am for her. Can hardly wait to see her again!

It's still Winter, right?
So I've noticed the early signs of my daffodils coming up the past few weeks, but already blooming?!!! Did I miss something? It's so cold out (more than usual), everything looks dead, and my daffodils are opening?!!! I know, it's random, but I had to mention it. Isn't this one pretty? I just love 'em! I'm SO glad the work day is over... can't wait to put on my PJs and watch my TV favs: The Office and Greys!

Abe
"What ever you are be a good one." - Abe Lincoln
Just a few of Abe's notable words on his birthday. I saw this particular quote earlier today and it struck me.
Am I a good wife? A good daughter? A good sister? A good friend? A good professional? A good neighbor? A "good" woman of God? These are the roles that came to mind as I thought about what I am... and the truth is that I'm certainly not the best and have much room to grow at times to even be decent! I hope people who know me well can say that I'm a good something!
And so this is my own dose of self-encouragement and prayer: to be and live as God has made me, always looking to Him, never forgetting to find joy in my journey.

The Drive
Just got back from a weekend in Fitzgerald, visiting my family. My mom celebrated her b-day this past week, so I drove down, my sis drove over, and the whole fam went to dinner. Minus my husband - he had to work, so he missed it. We had a really great time... we always do. I'm so blessed to have a family that truly enjoys spending time together! LOVED seeing my sis - we don't see each other nearly enough!
The drive itself is a significant time for me. Y'know, I'm always wishing I lived closer to my family, but I'm so glad it's a drive and not a flight away! My husband and I have different views on road time... I love listening to music, my husband prefers talk radio. So when I'm traveling alone, the drive is like therapy. And this weekend was no exception. I couldn't have asked for better weather coming back today - nice and sunny, and this evening the sky was so awesome when the sun set!
Time to get back to the same ole same...

With that said, I'm sort of in the "zone" right now. This is typical for me, after a weekend with my family. It's not a bad thing, I'm just pensive. It will wear off sometime mid-day tomorrow! It's as if time stops when I'm down there... no responsibility, no worries. It's a time to totally relax and catch up on what's going on: who's married who, who had a baby, who's getting a divorce, the usual small town stuff, haha. Constant reminders that I'm growing up!

A morning at home
I'm going in to work late today. WHY don't I do this more often? This particular day I'm having a piece of furniture delivered, so it was a perfect excuse for a late arrival.
Last night I fulfilled my weekly dose of AI (first round of auditions down, now on to the next cycle - more drama & more rejection!) - had time for an extra Sudoku puzzle - went to bed a little later than usual. Good times for this boring gal!
Right now I'm still in my PJs, having coffee, listening to the birds... I'm sure if this was a normal occurrence for me, I wouldn't appreciate it as much as I do now. BUT, I look forward to that change one day!
Wow, there's the delivery guy - on time - who knew?!!!

Well, I did it...
I've actually started a blog. After a few years of reading one friend's blog and seeing everyone jump on the myspace train this past year, I decided to jump in and get typing!
I'm a thinker, a processor. I have so many random thoughts, so this should work well for me! Nothing like getting it out in the open, right?
